Mother and daughter duo from Crowland, celebrate award wins with hair accessory business, Perdy’s Made With Love

A mother who was inspired by her daughter to start up a business has celebrated a number of award wins as her passion continues to flourish.

Rachel Carrington, of Crowland, started her business Perdy’s Made With Love in 2019 after noticing a gap in the market for good quality hair accessories.

The mother of three decided to name the business after her first daughter, Perdy, who is now seven years old. Rachel said: “I have always made things and been quite interested in crafts and art, and I wanted to be at home more as I used to be a travel photographer.

“After having Perdy, I found there was a gap in the market for good quality and pretty hair accessories and it just kind of snowballed from there.

“My daughter is my inspiration – she loves it and says she wants to take over the business when she's older.

“She is always asking to help and there are certain bits she can do which she enjoys.”

Perdy’s Made With Love sell a whole range of products including Alice bands, bows, hair clips, felt flowers, soft toys, knotted headbands – and even bows for dogs.

A lot of her items are made with fabrics from designer brand, Liberty London.

In 2024, Rachel’s business won various awards including Best Artisan Hair Accessories and Gifts Company for the Midlands, Central England Prestige Awards - which recognises small and medium-sized businesses which have proven to be the best in their market over the past 12 months and the Theo Paphitis Small Business Sunday award.

Rachel also creates lots of bespoke orders for her customers, which she says is her favourite thing to make. Some of her personalised orders have included Harry Potter and Winter Wonderland themed flower crowns and a Peacock inspired wedding fascinator.

She added: “I get a lot of repeat customers. One of them is on her 15th headband and that makes me feel passionate.

“Every year we bring out more products and designs and it's just getting bigger and bigger.

“I would describe the brand as tasteful, good quality and unique and I will never release anything I'm not completely happy with.”
