Nearly 500 responses to survey on how Spalding Town Board should spend £20million Levelling Up cash
A survey on how £20 million Levelling Up money should be spent in Spalding has received nearly 500 responses.
Spalding has been chosen as one of the places that had been ‘overlooked and taken for granted’ and so in need of extra investment as part of the government’s Long Term Plan for Towns over the next ten years.
Members of Spalding Town Board have been running a survey to find out how this money should be spent ahead of the important August 1 deadline when a vision and three year investment plan should be submitted to the Government for sign-off.
So far 498 responses have been provided to the survey and the deadline for hard copy responses has been extended to Friday, June 21. Paper copies are still available for those who did not receive one.
Robin Hancox, chairman of Spalding Town Board, said: “On behalf of the board I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share their views.
“We have had a great response and what respondents have told us will give us a real understanding of what matters to local people, helping us to determine how the £20million is spent in our town.
“This is just the start of our engagement with residents who are at the very heart of the vision and plan. We will continue to make sure that opportunities are offered for people to have their say and help to shape what happens in the years to come.
“We will keep people updated on the next steps, and once again, I would like to emphasise how appreciative the board is for the interest and involvement of Spalding residents.”
In addition to the online and paper surveys, residents have also been able to take part in a number of events.
Heritage Lincolnshire hosted two feedback walkabouts for the public in June when residents were invited to share their reflections on the town centre.
On May 28, the YMCA Lincolnshire Youth Team were in the town centre for young people to share their feedback.
Further events will be held in the coming months.
Community groups across the area have been contacted with an invitation to get involved and if any community group would like to share their feedback at a meeting or event they can get in touch: Spalding.TownBoard@sholland.gov.uk
The board will review the feedback that has been given, along with data insight for the town, and develop a vision and investment plan.
- Paper copies are available for anyone who didn’t receive one by contacting Spalding.TownBoard@sholland.gov.uk
