Spalding Flower Parade organisers put out appeal for volunteers
Organisers of Spalding Flower Parade are putting out an appeal for volunteers to help this year’s parade.
Members of Spalding Flower Parade Community Interest Company are holding a drop-in session in the town’s United Reformed Church on Friday, January 24, between 2pm and 7pm.
This year’s parade, which will be following the theme of ‘musicals’, is taking place on Saturday, May 10, and will set off from Springfields Events and Conference Centre.
A statement from the parade group said: “If you would like to come and meet the Spalding Flower Parade committee members and some of our wonderful volunteers / support team to learn more about what we do throughout the year to fundraise for the parade then pop along and join us for a chat and a cuppa.
“You don’t have to come on your own! Come as a family, friends, work colleagues or whoever you fancy, we can guarantee you will always have a good time and lots of laughter.”
The group is hoping to attract:
- Arena Stewards
- Car parking attendants
- Charity collectors
- Crowd ambassadors
- Float builders/decorators
- Flower pickers
- Fundraiser ambassadors
- Leaflet distributors
- Parade marshals
- Road closure marshals
- Site clearance operators
- Stage assistants
- Visitor experience ambassadors
The parade returned in 2023 following a ten-year break thanks to Stephen Timewell - and has attracted thousands of people to come and watch the floats.
This year’s event will also include entertainment at Springfields on the Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10.
