The school has informed the police and has issued a warning to parents so they can be on alert.

A social media post from headteacher Sophie Ingle said: “I am sorry to say that after school today a man in a white van tried to abduct one of our reception children whilst they were walking home, with parents, down Six House Bank.

“Police have been informed.

“Please do not let your children walk to school unaccompanied until we have further information. Many of our children also go to the park on their own and I would ask that this does not happen either.

“I will update parents via parent mail tomorrow with any further information.”

Anyone with information for police should contact 101.
