Passionate Spalding singer with big TikTok following hopes new single Falling will make her lifetime dream become a reality
A passionate musician - who previously went viral on social media - hopes her lifetime dream of becoming a full time singer will soon become a reality following the launch of her new single.
Mental health support worker, Shanice Forster, 24, of Spalding, first pursued her love of music in 2021, when she started street performing in cities around the UK.
The singer-songwriter has now released her new drum and bass track ‘Falling’ and it has gained more than 10,000 streams in its first week.
Shanice said: “Music has always been important to me. When I’m going through hard times music inspires me to keep going.
“Right now it’s a hobby but hopefully I can turn it into a career one day – that would be my dream.”
Shanice gained public attention on social media platform TikTok after she uploaded a video of her performing in Peterborough city centre.
The video, which has six million views, shows the moment when Shanice was confronted during her set by a member of public.
She said: “The women said I couldn’t sing and that she would report me to the council. The video blew up and it gave me 91,000 followers on TikTok.
“People in the comments were complimenting me which was nice and it pushed me to keep going and not stop. I had artists such as Canadian rapper Drake follow me which was crazy.
“The video definitely helped me and I’m happy it did go viral because it gave me more exposure however, I did lose my confidence because some people gave me false hope and promises.
“When people tell you they would be interested in working with you, or are willing to help you get somewhere and then don’t, it does knock you a bit but you have to keep going.
“I just want to sing and help people with my song lyrics and music – so far the single has done really well.”
Falling is a collaboration with Leicester-based drum and bass group Human Theory and is available on streaming sites, Spotify and Apple Music.
Shanice takes inspiration from singer-songwriters Becky Hill, Raye and Catching Cairo and hopes to produce a follow up track with Human Theory in the future.
