Crowland Amateur Dramatic Society ‘can’t wait’ to perform Mother Goose
A passionate theatre group says it ‘can’t wait’ for people to see its latest panto performance — with the cast raring to go after rehearsals.
It may not be the traditional panto season, but families and visitors will be able to enjoy the production of Mother Goose by Crowland Amateur Dramatic Society.
The show will take place at South View Primary School, on Postland Road, on Friday, February 14, at 7.30pm and Saturday, February 15, at 2pm and 7.30pm.
Produced by one of the founding members of the drama group, the performance follows Mother Goose and her family as they become rich.
Mother Goose would give anything to become young and beautiful so she makes a pact with Vanity, the bad fairy, to turn her ugliness into beauty in exchange for a magic goose.
Crowland Amateur Dramatic Society was set up 43 years ago and Lucy Cousins, one of the chaperones for this year’s production, is looking forward to seeing the cast’s hard work pay off. She said: “We had our auditions in October and started rehearsing in November – it’s been a long process.
“It’s hard work and long hours but it’s utterly worth it – the children do amazingly.
“Some of them have five costume changes and they’re all coping so well. It’s long hours of rehearsals but they are amazing, we can’t wait for the performances and for everyone to see all of their hard work.
“When I get tired all I have to do is look at their smiles and it spurs me on.”
There will be a bar, refreshments, popcorn, sweets and old fashioned usherette trays filled with ice cream for the audience at half time.
Adult tickets cost £10 per person and children and concessions is £7. The show programme is £2.50. For more information call 07944 631792.
