Plans submitted for new nature-based therapeutic activity site in Whaplode

Intergenerational play and horticultural sessions could be provided if planners give the green light to a new nature-based therapeutic activity site.

Mrs K Heywood wants to provide an outdoor space for educational groups along with wellbeing and mindful sessions from a paddock in Spalding Gate, Whaplode.

She has applied South Holland District Council for planning permission to use the site for residential and nature based therapeutic activities.

Documents lodged with the application state: “This planning application seeks approval to utilise the identified paddock area and workshop space, ensuring both indoor and outdoor environments remain valuable and accessible for the wider community while maintaining their natural and secure settings.”

Possible uses for the site included sensory play and exploration for youngsters along with space for home education groups.

Therapeutic horticultural activities for adults are also proposed along with calming sessions for people with dementia or mental health challenges.

Bringing families and older adults together for intergenerational play sessions are proposed along with animal assisted therapy with sheep, donkeys and alpacas.

The plans also include a bid to convert an existing brick-built workshop to provide space for indoor workshops along with the use of a vintage caravan as a pop-up tea bar.
