Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner Marc Jones says society must eradicate anti-social behaviour after alpacas were moved from Pinchbeck due to issues with yobs

Eradicating anti-social behaviour must be done by society says the Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner after four alpacas were rehomed.

Commissioner Marc Jones was approached by this newspaper for a comment after Sam and Paul Jeffery were forced to move their herd from Pinchbeck due to a rise in violent anti-social behaviour towards the animals. Yobs had thrown bricks at them.

Pinchbeck is losing its PCSO as the force slashes the numbers 91 to 50 as faces up to face up to a £10 million budget black hole.

Mr Jones said: “Cruelty to animals is a particularly despicable crime and one that I believe the whole community will be united in condemning. I am sorry that there are people living in our communities that find this kind of appalling behaviour to be acceptable.

“While I have no operational control over policing I feel sure that, if reported, this crime would be taken very seriously and I hope the force are doing so.

“But this kind of behaviour goes beyond the challenges of enforcement. Despite their best efforts Lincolnshire Police officers simply cannot be everywhere all of the time and if we are to eradicate this behaviour it must be done by society as a whole.

“Parents and schools must play a part in ensuring that young people understand how their actions can impact on others and their responsibility in playing a positive role in their own communities.”
