Boston Police say behaviour seen in Swineshead church is not ‘funny or acceptable’
Police investigating an incident which has resulted in a church being closed for the rest of half-term are appealing for information.
Swineshead St Mary the Virgin was left in a mess after an incident on Monday when sugar was strewn around the historic building along with food and drink being stolen from the cafe.
Insp Ian Cotton, of Boston Neighbourhood Policing team, has said that this is not ‘funny or acceptable’ behaviour.
He said: “Our local beat team will be making enquiries into the matter and have already spoken with the Rev Mark Williams.
“It’s disappointing that someone out there thinks this is any way funny or acceptable.
“I would request anyone with any knowledge of who was responsible contact PCSO Robert Johnson so those involved can be dealt with.”
The Rev Mark Williams has described the incident as ‘low level silliness’ but feels the best course of action is close the building for the rest of the school holiday.
