Deepings car meet broke coronavirus rules, say police

Police are looking for the organisers and anyone who went to a car meeting in Market Deeping at the weekend that is believed to have breached coronavirus guidelines.

About 200 cars were reported to have turned up at the Northfields Industrial Estate, off Sunderland Road, and Halifax Drive at about 8pm on Saturday.

Members of the public notified police of the meeting and the cars left the area when officers arrived.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: "We are grateful to the people who reported this meeting to us, which was a breach of the Government’s coronavirus guidelines.

"Officers will be looking at any offences for this breach, or offences under the Road Traffic Act, as some vehicles were taking part in drifting (using the brakes, clutch, gears and steering input to oversteer a car)."

Anyone with vehicle registrations or footage of the meeting should call 101 and quote incident reference 404 of December 4, or email force.control@lincs.pnn.police.uk

When emailing, please remember to put the incident reference in the subject box
