Holbeach Police Station to be new home for response officers

Police response teams based in South Holland are to partially move from police station in the area to another from next week.

Lincolnshire Police has confirmed that officers responding to both 999 and 101 calls will relocate from Spalding Police Station, in Westlode Street, to Holbeach Police Station, in Edinburgh Walk, from Monday, October 26.

Inspector Nick Waters, South Holland sector neighbourhood policing inspector, described the move as a way to "spread our resources better across the district".

He said: "In recent years Holbeach has housed a small neighbourhood policing team, with the main response to 999 and 101 calls being provided by officers from Spalding Police Station.

"From Monday, response officers will also be based and working from Holbeach, providing 24-hour response cover to the communities of Holbeach, the Suttons and surrounding villages.

"They will work alongside their colleagues based at Spalding and in partnership with the local neighbourhood team.

"The area of South Holland is vast, almost 300 square miles in size, and travelling distances can prove a real challenge to us when responding to incidents, conducting crime enquiries and targeting criminals.

"By basing officers at Holbeach, we can expand our coverage in South Holland and spread our resources better across the district.

"A trial period, during which we assessed the impact of one team of officers working at Holbeach, has demonstrated an improvement in response times to incidents, a closer working relationship with local neighbourhood officers and improved local knowledge.

"I look forward to the response officers moving to Holbeach from Monday."
