South Holland parents to get partial refund of post-16 school transport bills
Parents with children in sixth form education across South Holland are to get a partial refund on home-to-school transport costs.
Lincolnshire County Council has confirmed it will give back 40 per cent of payments already made by parents and carers for transport during the autumn and spring terms of the 2020-21 school year.
However, the discount will not apply to the summer term, nor to parents and carers who have paid schools in the area directly for transport provision.
Coun Patricia Bradwell, the council's executive member for children's services, said: "The pandemic has caused significant disruption to school timetables over the last few months.
"So, as a goodwill gesture, we will be refunding 40 per cent of the payments that have been made to the council for post-16 home-to-school transport during the autumn term 2020 and spring term 2021.
"We will also be offering the same discount to those planning to pay for post-16 transport for the spring term 2021.
"We are sure this will be welcome news, especially given the financial difficulties many families are facing at this time."
Payments will be made in the new year and parents/carers will not need to apply to claim the money back.
