Crowland Community Preschool welcomes babies to newly refurbished site
A preschool is now welcoming little ones from six-months-old to its newly refurbished site.
Crowland Community preschool, which has been running for nearly 60 years, has had a busy summer renovating the site on North Street, into a cosy and welcoming space after lowering their age range.
The charity-run setting, which opened in 1968, raised money for the project throughout the year by organising a number of fundraisers such as community bingo, raffle and obstacle courses for the children.
Natasha Miller, chair of Crowland Community Preschool said: “We did all of the work ourselves because we couldn’t get grants within the time we wanted to get it done.
“We are keen to build a home from home setting. It was important to us that the space was small, cosy and warm.
“There is something special about watching a child’s face light up with pride when they learn and achieve something new, and knowing you have helped them to get there is what we love about our setting.
“We follow a gentle parenting approach and want to provide a comforting setting sets a strong foundation for children’s early years progression and sets them up for the best learning and development.
“I’d welcome people to join the committee and start volunteering here – it’s a lovely thing to be a part of.”
In the future, the preschool hopes to receive a grant to turn it’s current garage into a baby room. The work is estimated to cost around £10,000.
Crowland Community preschool currently has lots of spaces available for all children aged six-months to four-years-old.
A breakfast club runs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 8am to 9am. It costs £6.50 per child to attend.
