Long Sutton County Primary School thanks ‘fantastic’ contractors after roof leak caused some pupils to have to stay at home on Tuesday
A primary school has thanked ‘fantastic’ staff and contractors for their swift work to repair a ‘significant water leak’ from the roof.
Long Sutton County Primary School, on Dick Turpin Way, suffered water damage following a downpour of heavy rain on Monday night/Tuesday morning.
Pupils in year groups three, four, five and six were asked to stay at home — but the nursery class, reception and year one and two were able to go to school as normal.
Leaders at the primary school were thankful for all of the support they received from contractors and staff member Darren Goult — with a social media post explaining that the team was able to clear the water and conduct safety checks to the building's roof and electricals to avoid further disruption into today.
Sarah Gray, headteacher at the school, said: “Following heavy rain overnight, there was a significant water leak in one area of the school which resulted in the closure of key stage two.
“This was quickly resolved thanks to our fantastic staff and contractors alongside invaluable support from Keystone Trust. We are consequently able to operate safely today as normal.”
All students were welcomed back this morning (Wednesday, November 20).
