Pro-Palestine protest held in Spalding with police saying it passed off peacefully
A pro-Palestine protest was staged on the edge of Spalding today.
The demonstration is said to have taken place in Barrier Bank to the south of the town — and, despite rumours, was not connected to the delay to the start of the Spalding Flower Parade.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “We were made aware this morning of a pro-Palestine protest being held on Barrier Bank, Spalding.
“We have engaged with the group, which numbered around 15 people, who carried out their lawful right to protest.
“This was unconnected with the Spalding Flower Parade, and no issues have been identified.”
The parade left about 25 minutes late — but this was said to be due to a parked car in the path of the floats.
A spokesman for the parade said: “We’d like to clarify that the delay to the start of the 2025 Spalding Flower Parade was due to technical issues which were resolved as quickly as possible.
“We are aware of rumours circulating online suggesting that the delay was caused by pro-Palestine protestors in the Spalding area. We can confirm that these individuals did not affect the parade or our route.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding. We hope you enjoyed the parade and appreciate everyone who came out to support this fantastic community event.”
