Pumpkin picking more popular than ever as Tyrrell’s Farm in Cowbit free event has good turnout

Pumpkin picking is more popular than ever as many families had a ‘gourd time’ over the weekend at a free event.

Tyrrell’s Farm in Cowbit welcomed families back for the fifth year in a row to pick from a range of pumpkins to buy and take home to carve for Halloween.

Six new varieties, including yellow and red, were available at the family run farm, which will be open every weekend this month between between 10am and 4pm. It is open during half term (Monday, October 27 - Friday, October 31).

William said: “Pumpkin picking is popular if not more this year.

“We had a good turn out and it went very very well

“Everyone who came along thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Weekend refreshments are on offer from the FlourPot Coffee company and The Cheesy Pig, both from Bourne.

Mr Tyrrell added: “We try to keep it as local and community based where possible.”

Members of St Mary’s in Cowbit will have a stall selling cakes to raise funds for the church.

Entry is free and pumpkins start at £1. All of the pumpkins are grown on site.

Make sure to bring appropriate footwear if the weather decides to turn as some days the site might be muddy. No dogs are allowed.

Keep an eye on Tyrrell’s Farm Facebook page for details of their ‘special quiet hour’ for autism awareness pumpkin picking experience.
