The head of a Sutton Bridge primary school has given more details about the positive test for COVID-19 reported this week.

Karyn Wiles, executive head teacher at Westmere Primary School, confirmed that two classes and six staff members were currently self-isolating after a pupil tested positive on Tuesday (December 15).

Westmere was one of three primary and secondary schools in South Holland that notified education leaders at Lincolnshire County Council of positive tests during the week of Wednesday, December 9, and Tuesday, December 15.

Mrs Wiles said: "We were notified on Tuesday morning that a pupil at Westmere Primary School had tested positive.

"We immediately made contact with the Department for Education and Lincolnshire County Council's health protection team.

"Following guidance, we completed a risk assessment to identify close contacts of the pupil and this resulted in the closure of a bubble (two classes) and six members of staff having to isolate until Tuesday, December 22.
