Deeping St Nicholas road closed while engineers repaired railway line

A main road was closed over the weekend while engineers repaired a railway line.

The A1175 at Deeping St Nicholas was closed on Saturday night (October 15) as Network Rail undertook replaced some of the rails.

Motorists were met with road closure signs at the entrance of Deeping St Nicholas, near Market Deeping, prompting a long diversion route to get to Spalding.

A Network Rail spokesman said: “Littleworth level crossing was closed over the weekend due to the rails through the crossing and along the track being renewed.”

Campaigners have fresh hopes that Littleworth Railway Station, in the village, will be operational once more following the handing over of extra powers to the Greater Lincolnshire mayor, Dame Andrea Jenkyns, for transport - and the site’s inclusion in a key document.
