University Academy Long Sutton (ULAS) £80k crowd funder to help raise rebuild funds

A school which is undergoing a major rebuild needs to raise £80,000 to pay for essential equipment.

University Academy Long Sutton (ULAS) - which has suffered mould and damp - is one of 61 schools to be selected as part of the Government’s flagship School Rebuilding Programme.

The existing building is going to be demolished to make way for a new school with a range of facilities and though the Department for Education will cover certain costs, another £80,000 is being raised for essential equipment.

Dominique Stainton, senior teacher at ULAS, said: “We have been lucky to be chosen for a new school build and we are excited to be moving into our new school in June 2026.

“However the project has left us needing to fund the dining furniture and also IT and technical equipment.

“We just do not have the funds to cover this additional cost and have therefore created a crowd funding page in the hope that we can raise some money towards this.”

The school celebrated exceptional achievements’ of pupils who received their GCSE results in August, particularly in art, maths, sociology and statistics.

Bowmer + Kirkland, a Derbyshire construction company, was awarded the contract by the Department for Education (DfE) to construct the new facilities.

The aim of the project is for the school to become ‘a safe, welcoming and attractive environment for pupils to learn and enjoy their educational journey.’
