Spalding Grammar School radio station revived thanks to councillors
A school radio station has been helped to get back on the airwaves thanks to support from two councillors.
Spalding Grammar School had appealed for help to get Tower Radio back up and running after the studio had been flooded last year.
St John’s ward councillors Manzur Hasan and James Le Sage have responded to the call by providing funding from their designated councillor budget (DCB) to help.
They say this will provide a renewed space for creative expression and community engagement.
Coun Hasan said: "Reviving the school radio station is an investment in our youth and our community's future.”
Coun Le Sage added: “'The use of DCB is an integral and fantastic part of being a district councillor that allows us to help charities and organisation's achieve goals.
“When the call came to help the Grammar School replace damaged radio station equipment myself and Coun Hasan were only too happy to help. Wherever we can help and make a difference in the St John's ward with such DCB grants we will.”
Tower Radio broadcasts live on Friday lunchtimes and during open evenings and events. Students can also listen via the website at home and via pre-recorded podcasts.
