Spalding's Ayscoughfee Hall School goes festive before end of term

Youngsters at Ayscoughfee Hall School are full of the festive spirit before the end of term today (Friday) after putting on a show for their parents.

Kindergarten and reception classes at the Spalding school took part in a "Christmas Alphabet" production where each child played the part of a letter.

Meanwhile, Years 1 and 2 pupils starred in a traditional nativity play called "This is the Star", which included readings and carols, such as We Three Kings and While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, parents and carers were unable to attend the school in person to see their children acting and singing.

But the school did arrange for both performances to be shown virtually to parents and carers in their homes.

Head teacher Clare Ogden said: "We are so proud of all the children as they were brilliant and rose to the occasion amazingly well, particularly since they had no live audience to perform to."

Before breaking up today, children also took part in a Christmas Festival that was again shown live to parents online.

Other events at the school this week included class parties, with fish and chips, gingerbread men, dancing and party games.

Older children made indoor snowballs, played a round of Christmas bingo hosted by Santa Claus himself and took part in their own version of the BBC TV business series Dragon's Den, with five teams "pitching" their design ideas.
