Long Sutton councillor Jack Tyrrell leaves South Holland District Council cabinet role
A senior member of South Holland District Council has stepped down from the cabinet.
Coun Jack Tyrrell (Conservative) has left his role as portfolio holder for environmental services but will continue as a representative for Long Sutton ward.
Coun Jim Astill (Conservative) will take over his duties until after the May county elections.
The news was first announced at a recent full council meeting, where Conservative leader Nick Worth described the "baptism of fire" Tyrrell had to endure in his role.
"It's not been an easy time, thank you Jack," he said.
A spokesman for South Holland District Council stated: "Following discussions with the leader of the council, Coun Jack Tyrrell has taken the decision to step down from his portfolio.
"This decision was reached through mutual agreement, and we thank Coun Tyrrell for his contributions during his time in the role.
"As the council is about to enter pre-election period due to May elections Coun Jim Astill will cover the portfolio of environmental services until after the elections have taken place and a process of reviewing portfolio arrangements can begin, we will provide further updates in due course."
Alongside Couns Worth and Astill, the council’s cabinet also includes deputy leader Paul Redgate, portfolio holder for assets and strategic planning Henry Bingham, portfolio holder for strategic and operational housing Tracey Carter, portfolio holder for public protection Anthony Casson, portfolio holder for health and wellbeing, conservation and heritage, and tourism Elizabeth Sneath, and portfolio holder for community development Gary Taylor.
