Wyberton shoplifter caught breaching court order after stealing £77 worth of chocolate
A serial shoplifter has been caught breaching a court order after stealing items including £77 worth of chocolate.
Callum Rowe, 28, of Curlew Road, Wyberton, has been handed a custodial sentence of six weeks, suspended for 12 months, after breaching a criminal behaviour order (CBO).
Rowe pleaded guilty to three counts of theft and had three breaches of his CBO which include:
- Stealing £7.95 worth of coffee on January 19 at Co-Op in Boston.
- Entering a retail premises without a reasonable excuse on January 19, 23 and 28.
- Stealing £77.74 worth of chocolate from Bargain Buys in Boston on January 23.
- Stealing £68.20 worth of various food items from Bargain Buys in Boston on January 28.
Under the conditions of his criminal behaviour order — which was issued on November 27 2024 — Rowe was prohibited from entering all retail premises in Boston except Farmfoods in Boston, Kirton Pharmacy and Spa shop in Wyberton.
PC Danni Pratt said: “We will seek to issue CBOs to those who persist in this anti-social behaviour. We will closely monitor those who have been issued CBOs and act quickly if they continue their offending in our shops.
“Boston Neighbourhood Policing Team will do everything we can to protect the livelihoods of our local retailers. This behaviour is not welcome in Boston, and we will do everything we can to ensure it feels safe and secure for all those to live, work and visit here.”
A criminal behaviour court order is a civil order designed to tackle the most serious and persistent anti-social individuals where their behaviour has brought them before a criminal court.
The orders deliver enforceable rules on where they can and cannot go.
If the CBO is breached, this is a criminal offence, and a custodial sentence can be enforced. For the most serious offences, this can be up to five years.
