‘Severe damage!’ Spalding, Skegness and Long Sutton firefighters attend three car fires in early hours




Firefighters put out two car fires in the early hours of this morning.

The first incident took place just after midnight on London Road, Spalding and a second at Lancaster Avenue, Skegness at 12.46am.

Within two hours a second incident at Saltney Gate, Saracens Head, was being dealt with.

All three vehicles suffered ‘severe damage’.

The crew were called out to Spalding at 12.18am today (May 12).

“Spalding Fire Station attended a car fire on London Road, Spalding,” a Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue statement said.

“This was severe fire damage to one car, and 6m of wooden fencing.

“Extinguished using one hose reel and one breathing apparatus.”

The Saracen’s Head incident occurred at 1.50am.

“Long Sutton Fire Station,” attended a car fire on Saltney Gate, Saracens Head,” a second statement explained.

“This was severe fire damage to one car.

“Extinguished using one hose reel and one breathing apparatus.”

Regarding the Skegness incident, a further statement said: “Both Skegness Fire Station appliances attended a car fire on Lancaster Avenue, Skegness.

“This was severe fire damage to one car and light fire damage to the facia of a garage.

“Extinguished using one hose reel and one breathing apparatus.”
