Six men bailed and one de-arrested after fatal crash in Tongue End
Six men have been released on bail – and another ‘de-arrested’ – as investigations into a fatal collision.
One man died after his car crashed and was left overturned in a water-filled ditched in Tongue End on Friday afternoon. Two police officers went into the water at the scene – at Counter Drain Drove – to try to save him, but their rescue bid was in vain.
Seven men were arrested following the incident – and police have, this afternoon, issued an update on the case.
Officers say the youngest of the men arrested, aged 19, was taken to hospital where he now remains. Police say he has been ‘de-arrested and will be questioned in due course’.
Two men aged 33 and four men - aged 20, 24, 27 and 31 - have also been released on bail while investigations continue.
The collision had been reported at 3.37pm on Friday afternoon and involved a grey Ford Focus, a black Vauxhall Insignia and a grey Volkswagen Touran.
Officers say they are still appealing for witnesses to come forward.
