End in sight for Moulton Chapel ‘ski slope’ development

The saga surrounding the controversial ‘ski slope’ site could be solved within the next 18 months – providing the developer gets planning permission to lower the current levels.

Allison Homes has submitted an application to reduce the height of its Chapel Gate estate in Moulton Chapel – which dismayed people living around the building site due to raised levels and high entrance road.

The builder had previously submitted an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate after South Holland District Council refused an application in February.

However, Allison Homes’ head of planning Ian Reilly confirmed to Moulton Parish Council on Tuesday that the developers are bringing down the site levels of the site.

He plans for this will be on the agenda of the October district council planning committee - and, if approved, the appeal will be withdrawn.

Mr Reilly said that if the developer immediately withdrew the appeal, it would then have to comply with the enforcement notice to remove all the material in 21 days.

“All the appeal does is keeps the ability to have conversations with alternative outcomes” said Mr Reilly.

He said that if the latest planning application is approved then it would take 18 months for the development to be finished.

However calls have been made for planners at South Holland to take greater notice of residents’ concerns in the future.

Coun Lawrence Wakefield said: “On June 13 last year, Moulton Parish Council got in touch with the district council and said what was happening. No-one did anything about it. All this could have been avoided if they listened to people on the ground. No-one took any notice.”
