High school music exchange

Spalding High School continued its links with the Gymnasium Loehne School in Germany by hosting their visitors for a music exchange.

The two groups of students enjoyed an evening soiree with a drama performance written for the event by the German sixth formers. There were also drama sketches by Year 7, 8, 9 and sixth formers from Spalding High and musical performances from both schools.

The following evening, a summer concert featured both schools and included highlights such as Keira Harvey (Year 7) performing ‘A Million Dreams’ accompanied by the orchestra, and the Year 7 chair drummers playing a solo in the middle of ‘Another One Bites the Dust’.

The concert was a huge success for both schools and eadmistress Michele Anderson said: “Both events were spectacular and the response to the concert in particular was triumphant.

"Members of the audience and choir were on their feet in appreciation. Retaining the arts in education is essential and at the High School we are determined to further develop and grow our relationship with Gymnasium Loehne.

"The collaboration between our schools has grown and created friendships and a wealth of musical talent, with both schools being very proud and determined to see the relationship continue and grow."

Attending the concert were many parents and families, staff and friends alike. All have commented that the entire show was amazing including the vocal and musical talents of many students.
