A popular Italian restaurant in Spalding has won prestigious national recognition as a winner in the Good Food Awards 2019.

Amici Restaurant, in Vine Street, was awarded the honour after praise from customers.

Thrilled director and head chef Ivan Pastore (43) said: "This is our first national award and was voted for by our customers.

"The awards are totally independent and it brought a little tear to my eye - a lot of it has come from word of mouth."

The restaurant opened in 2006 and also featured on the BBC during its poetry season. Benjamin Zephaniah performed his own poem 'The British' with students for a filmed segment in the restaurant.

The Good Food Awards are by invitation only and each year venues are hand-picked to join the top awards programme. The awards symbolise the very best in their field.
