Aldi reaffirms its commitment to new Holbeach store

A supermarket giant that was due to start construction work on a new store in Holbeach this summer has reaffirmed its commitment to the town.

Aldi was granted planning permission earlier this year to build a new supermarket after purchasing a former South Holland District Council depot in Fleet Street.

Shortly after being granted the green light by South Holland District Council, the chain said that it had planned to start work in August.

A spokesman said: “Since securing planning permission in March 2023, Aldi has been working hard behind the scenes in preparation for commencing demolition works. We remain hopeful that these initial works will start this year.

“With the current cost of living crisis, now more than ever, customers are looking for better-value products to help their money go further and it is within this context that Aldi reaffirms its commitment to delivering a new store in Holbeach."

Last week we announced that another big supermarket, Lidl, is also eyeing up Holbeach as a possible site for re-location.
