Anglian Water promises to remove temporary traffic lights which have been causing issues on a Spalding road

Temporary traffic lights which have been causing problems along a busy street will be removed this weekend, water bosses have promised.

Anglian Water has apologised for the technical issue with the lights in West Elloe Avenue, Spalding, which has resulted in misery for motorists today (Friday, October 18).

Roadworks have been in place while the company repairs a nearby sewer - but these are hoped to be lifted shortly.

An Anglian Water spokesperson said: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by the temporary traffic lights on West Elloe Avenue in Spalding. There was a technical issue that has now been resolved.

“The team is carrying out a sewer repair nearby, which we expect to be completed by Friday, October 25. To minimise disruption to road users and residents, we will be removing the temporary traffic lights this weekend. We thank customers for their patience as we get things back to normal.”

The West Elloe Avenue issue comes just a few weeks after Anglian Water closed Commercial Road twice in order to fix a sewer - and this also created havoc across the town’s roads.
