Spalding Grammar School pupils sign off with leavers’ ball party
Youngsters said goodbye to school life with their leavers’ ball last week.
Spalding Grammar School’s year 13 pupils put on their glad rags and dancing shoes to let their hair down after their exams and celebrate the end of their education journey.
The Sessions House was the venue for the night of revelry, with youngsters having one last get together before moving on to the next stage of their lives, be that education or employment.
Headteacher Steven Wilkinson and head of sixth form Dr Adriana Leadbeater were among those on hand to say their farewells.
Dr Leadbeater described the event as ‘full of flavour’ thanks to a ‘spirited group with bags of artistic and musical talents, prowess in both sports and academia and outstanding personal qualities’.
“They have done an excellent job of leading the school this year with a sense of fun, inclusion and compassion and I am grateful for their engagement and pride in our school,” she said.
“It is with both great sadness and huge joy that we said goodbye to them with a fabulous send-off at our annual leavers’ ball, celebrating all the hard-work and dedication that has been invested over the past two years.
“We wish them all the very best in their ongoing journey and look forward to hearing of their future successes in the coming years.”
Alex Barnett was the ball’s King, wearing his grandad’s Highland dress with a traditional Scottish tartan kilt and all the accessories.
Queen Jessica Atkinson rocked the Goth chick look with flair, wearing a black tulle dress and the lace chocker de rigueur for a proper fashion statement.
