Spalding set for Christmas Celebration event on Saturday
Organisers have promised that they have got a brilliant line up of festive fun to get you in the seasonal spirit this weekend.
Spalding’s Christmas Celebration is set to feature live entertainment, games, food, crafts, seasonal stalls and more - with the event will take place on Saturday (November 26) from 11am until 5pm.
You can get a photo in the giant snow globe or take a ride on the vintage fair rides while enjoying some festive tunes.
There will be a fancy dress competition where the winner will be invited to turn on the towns Christmas lights.
You’ll then be able to enjoy carols by candlelight at 4.30pm to complete the day.
The event is South Holland District Council’s showpiece date - and aims to boost the town ahead of the key Christmas campaign.
Coun Rodney Grocock, portfolio holder for Spalding town improvement, said: “One of our key aims is to support town centre businesses with events that generate footfall, and events like this that bring the local community together are crucial for what we hope to achieve.”
The South Holland Centre will be hosting a vintage pop up theatre from ‘Punch and Judy Inc’.
A nutcracker trail will also be launching this year.
This entails finding nutcracker soldiers hidden in shops around the town - with the chance to win a prize if you can spy them all.
Retailers can also take part in dressing their shop windows with Christmas themed decorations to help celebrate.
Entrants should email three photos of your shop window by Friday to
community@sholland.gov.uk. Public voting for the competition will go live December 1 until Friday, December 9.
The winner will receive an award.
Some road closures are in place for the weekend.
Sheep Market car park is closed from Friday, November 25 and all day for the event on Saturday, November 26.
Market Place / Hall Place will also be closed from 6.30am to 6.30pm.
