Road closure and diversion planned as £70k resurfacing takes place on High Street, Holbeach
A town centre will be closed for five nights while a £70,000 road improvement scheme takes place.
Lincolnshire County Council will be carrying out resurfacing near the pedestrian crossing and bus stop opposite the Co-op on High Street, Holbeach.
The works will begin on Thursday, June 26, for five nights and a signed diversion route will be B1515 Fleet Road / A17 / B1168 and vice versa.
Kyra Nettle, county highways manager at LCC said: “We are resurfacing the carriageway on each approach to the crossing and we’re doing this for safety reasons.
“We will be increasing the skid resistance at these areas and ensuring a smooth surface on the crossing for those who use it.
“This is a very busy part of the local traffic network because of nearby shops and the bus stop, so the improvement will be very noticeable and immediate for a large number of pedestrians and road users.”
The improvements will make the busy crossing point and bus stop safer for those on foot and in cars.
Kyra Nettle added: “These works will cost around £70,000 to deliver and will mean a real uplift for the crossing and bus stop.
“This improvement is another part of our ongoing improvements across the county and because of the nature of the work, we have to put a diversion route using like-for-like roads in place during work hours.
“I would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding whilst we are delivering the programme of work for this part of Holbeach.”
For the safety of road users and crew they will wait until the Co-op is closed before starting the night works ‘so as to keep access available for those who are shopping and working there.’
Work times on site will be from 10pm - 6am subject to suitable weather.
Road closure is required for the duration of the nighttime works with a diversion route in place throughout work hours.
The diversion will be lifted at the end of each shift to help minimise local traffic disruption and work times on site will be from 10pm - 6am subject to suitable weather.
