Morriss & Mennie estate agent closes Spalding store with ‘immediate effect’ after being transferred to R Longstaff & Co

An estate agent office has been closed with ‘immediate effect’ following the business transferring to another property company.

Morriss & Mennie estate agents in Bridge Street, Spalding has a notice on its door informing customers they will be trading under R. Longstaff & Co which has offices in Bourne, Grantham and New Road, Spalding.

Some staff from Morriss & Mennie - which was established in 1994 - have joined the Longstaff team and the residential portfolio has been transferred, with sales now being marketed from Longstaff’s larger office.

The notice reads: “This marks the bringing together of Lincolnshire’s longest established estate agent with Morriss and Mennie, a fellow South Lincolnshire market leader.

“To capitalise on the strengths of each firm, some of the Morriss and Mennie team have joined Longstaff.

“The transfer means this office is now closed with immediate effect.”

In an expansion move last March , Longstaff & Co - a family-run company that has been established for more than 200 years - merged with Eckfords in Bourne.

The firm took over Escritt Barrell Golding in 2022 to forge a stronger position in the agricultural and commercial sectors in the Grantham district.

In May 2010, Longstaff purchased the residential lettings and management business of Lyalls Lettings in Bourne.

This then merged with the company’s existing Bourne office, which had opened in 2006.

Morriss & Mennie won the British Property Award for Spalding in 2023, receiving gold in the national competition.
