Spalding pub appeals for 'continued support' after staff member tests positive for COVID-19
The owner and landlord of a Spalding pub have reassured customers about its safety after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
Confirmation of the coronavirus case at The Punchbowl, in New Road, came on Saturday, October 10, although pub owners have made it clear that the staff member was not working when known to have coronavirus.
Both the staff member concerned and their colleagues went into self-isolation, while the pub itself was "deep cleaned" and a new team of staff put in place.
A statement from the pub posted on social media yesterday (Wednesday) said: "In response to recent reports of an incident of COVID-19 within our premises, I feel the need to address the issues raised and reassure everyone that at no time have we ever had a member of staff working with COVID.
"Since reopening in July, we have strictly adhered to all government guidelines regarding sanitising the pub, track and trace and staff training, with all guidelines up to date and regularly reviewed.
"At no time has any customer ever been put in a position of risk of contracting COVID within these premises and your continued support in these uncertain times is very much appreciated."
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Craft Union Pub Company, owners of The Punchbowl where a £200,000 refurbishment was carried earlier this year, said: "We confirm that a team member is self-isolating having tested positive for COVID-19.
"The operator and all team members have taken all the necessary precautions and are self-isolating, the bar has been deep cleaned and reopened with a new team in place.
"All our COVID-secure measures remain in place to keep our staff and customers safe."
