Hughes electrical appliance store closes its doors in Spalding
A prominent town centre shop has closed its doors today.
Hughes electrical appliance store in Sheep Market in Spalding now displays notices in the window state that ‘that these doors may have closed but we’re still open’ – pointing to the fact that shoppers now have to head online.
The retail chain, which sells kitchen appliances, televisions audio and computing goods, is another high street business in the town to announce a closure – and leaves a prime site to be filled.
Barclays Bank in Hall Place will close its doors this spring, the second bank to withdraw from Spalding in the space of two months after the announcement in December that Halifax would be shutting its branch.
The electrical store had played an important role in town life – hosting mental health support and promoting the Spalding Flower Parade, offering photo opportunities in a purpose-built Tardis.
