Anglian Water hopes Commercial Road will be ‘reinstated’ by middle of the week

Traffic chaos is likely to continue for much of this week as repairs are required at a major road.

Anglian Water says it hopes that Commercial Road in Spalding will be ‘reinstated’ by the middle of the week after completing repairs to a burst sewer pipe.

The closure of Commercial Road by Anglian Water - for the second time in just a few weeks - brought Spalding town centre to a standstill by creating long traffic queues during today’s rush hour.

An Anglian Water spokesman said: “We are very sorry for any traffic disruption on Commercial Road in Spalding over the next couple of days.

“We have had to close the road so that our teams can repair a burst sewer pipe. We know this area has seen a lot of roadworks recently, so we’d like to thank residents for their patience as we get things back to normal.

“All being well, we're expecting to get the road reinstated by the middle of this week.”

A burst sewer pipe resulted in Commercial Road being closed September 15 for four days - which also created gridlock in the town.
