Spalding Rail Station timetable affected by coronavirus cases among train staff

Train passengers in Spalding and South Holland are having to adjust to a reduced timetable because of rising coronavirus cases among rail staff.

East Midlands Railway (EMR), operator of the line between Spalding, Peterborough, Sleaford and Lincoln, has cut the number of services on Mondays to Fridays from eight a day to six.

Services from Lincoln to Peterborough at 9.11am and 12.10pm, along with the return journeys at 10.40am and 1.41pm, have been temporarily withdrawn.

In addition, the 1.33pm Lincoln to Peterborough and 3.11pm return service on Saturdays have also been suspended.

A statement on EMR's website stated: "Due to the impact of the increased number of coronavirus-related self isolations within our workforce, we have made the difficult decision to make changes to our timetable in order to protect our most popular services.

"A revised timetable came into effect from Monday to help protect against unplanned and short notice cancellations which we know are frustrating.

"We have taken this proactive step and prioritised those services that are relied upon by key workers and those who use our services to travel to work, school or college."
