Spalding road shut due to unsafe dip

A busy Spalding road has had to shut after a deepening dip made it 'unsafe for traffic'.

Highways officials say the situation in Park Road had worsened to the point that action had to be taken.

A county highways spokesman said: "We believe there is an underlying ground condition here affecting the sewer and the road surface.

"We are working with Anglian Water to investigate the issue as a matter of urgency so we can reinstate the road and reopen it safely."

Repairs were carried out to the road by Anglian Water last year in a bid to try to fix subsidence issues but the matter has come to a head again now.

Brylaine Travel says its Spalding Town Service will be diverted along Woolram Wygate and Pinchbeck Road, instead of its usual route along Park Close and Park Road.

Recently repairs were needed to a dip in the road at Halmergate, while last year an issue in Boston Road, Holbeach took several weeks to repair.
