Spalding High School enjoys 'very special moment' as its wins Secondary School of the Year title
Spalding High School scooped our Secondary School of the Year title for the third time.
The hotly contested award, sponsored and judged by Greencore, saw Spalding Academy and The Deepings School finish runners up.
Spalding High School was put forward for the award for their work on 'emotional wellbeing and mental health' as well as excellent academic achievement and strong leadership.
Nominees described them as a 'forward-thinking and progressive school with an outward looking curriculum and a rich and diverse extra-curriculum programme'.
Headmistress Michele Anderson said: "I am stunned actually. This is the third time we have won the award and I know how tough the competition is.
"The schools in South Holland are so rich in all that they provide and that's really come to the forefront in the last 18 months.
"To win this award is a very, very special moment.
"It's not something that's about my as a head alone - this is a team effort from all our students, staff and the parents we serve.
"I am absolutely thrilled and slightly emotional - I really didn't think it would be us."
The award was one of eleven handed out in the Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian Education Awards, held at Springfields Events Centre in Spalding last night.
