Deeping St Nicholas village fete raises more than £600 for Good Neighbour Scheme and appeals for organisers to take on next year’s event
New organisers are being sought to help arrange next year’s village fete after the latest event raised money for the community.
Inclement weather did not stop visitors from going along to support Deeping St Nicholas fete - which raised £600 for the village’s Good Neighbour Scheme.
Craft stalls, a bouncy castle, an ice cream van, barbecue, music and entertainment were part of the event. Rob Jarvis had organised a tombola and raffle.
Event organisers Andy and Deborah Croyle are now hoping to pass over the reins after co-ordinating the past five events.
Mr Croyle said: “'The weather could have been better, but it stayed dry, for which we are thankful.
“I received so many comments on the friendliness and the wonderful atmosphere.
“This is of course down to our stallholders and especially the dozens of volunteers who helped in whatever ways to make the event a success.”
Entertainment was provided at the fete by the Palmy Ukulele Band plus there was a demonstration from the Market Deeping Tang Soo Do martial arts club.
The fete was sponsored by Ye Olde Bridge Inn, A. D. Bly construction, Spalding Rugby Club, The Deepings Rugby Club and Nicholas Watts.
Mr Croyle added: “It couldn't have happened without the sponsors.
“It was very much a community effort by the community, for the community.
“There were so many people who helped us and it wouldn't happen without them.”
It is planned to set up a committee to take on the running of next year’s event and volunteers who wish to help coordinate can put themselves forward.
