Spalding Winter Wonderland event cancelled due to safety concerns
A town Winter Wonderland event has been cancelled.
The event was due to bring a festive feel to Spalding’s Ayscoughfee Gardens with Santa’s grotto, family games, performances by choirs and a magical elf trail tomorrow (Saturday, December 7).
However, organisers have had to pull the plug due to safety concerns.
“Unfortunately, after reviewing the weather forecast for tomorrow and the predicted high winds and rain, and consulting with our partners in the Spalding Safety Advisory Group, the unfortunate decision has been made to cancel our Winter Wonderland,” a statement on behalf of the Spalding Flower Parade, who were behind the event, said.
“We know you will all be very disappointed as we are, but public safety has always got to be the first consideration and a priority,
“Thank you to everyone who’s been involved with the months of planning that goes into putting these events on and for all your continued support that you give to the Spalding Flower Parade, we couldn’t make this happen without you.”
A second event will be held at Ayscoughfee Gardens the following Saturday (December 14).
It will run from 11am to 2pm where children will have the opportunity to visit Santa and receive a free gift.
There will also be free Christmas craft activities organised by South Holland District Council’s communities’ team.
