Construction work for Wendy’s has started at Spalding Lincs Gateway Business Park site

Work has started on building a new outlet for a popular American burger restaurant.

More than a year after plans for the new drive-thru restaurant for Wendy’s were given the green light, preparation for construction work is in full swing on the Spalding site.

The popular chain will neighbour Applegreen, Greggs, Costa, Subway, Taco Bell and KFC at the Lincs Gateway Business Park off the A16.

Plans were given the go-ahead by South Holland District Council in July 2023, for two single storey restaurant/cafe drive thrus to be built on an acre of land at the site, which will also feature 42 parking spaces – three for disabled users – and 14 cycle spaces.

The district council also gave permission for a second chain - whose identity has not been revealed yet.

Wendy’s has been approached for a comment. The chain is expanding its operation in the UK — with another branch planned for Ram Jam Services off the A1.
