Julie Grant, vice president of Spalding Lions said: “It was a fantastic afternoon.

“The sun shone and the children enjoyed free rides thanks to the generosity of Roger and Sophie Tuby and their team.

“It is a safe environment and the children are able to go on the rides as many times as they want, for as long as they want.”

The annual event inviting SEN schools to the fair has continued twice a year for 35 years and the Spalding Lions have a close relationship with the Tuby family.

Julie said: “In a week where Roger Tuby Sr had been laid to rest, following his recent death, it was a poignant moment for all Spalding Lions Club members, who have known the family for so many years.

“Roger Tuby Jr said to us that the show has to go on, as his late father, who had been a member of his local Lions Club, would have wanted.

“Many of these children struggle with loud music, crowds and flashing lights and the Tuby family ensures that everything is adapted accordingly, giving everyone a good time.”

Coun Jan Whitbourn, South Holland District Council’s vice-chairman, joined in with the fun by having a go on the dodgems. The Spalding Wygate councillor and Sophie Tuby were presented with thank you flowers from the Spalding Lions.

She said: “It was so sad to hear that some of the young students had never been to a fair before but a joy to see their jubilant faces going on all the rides, laughing and screaming enjoying their afternoon.

“Well done to the wonderful Lions who have been enjoying this experience for so long and I know enjoy this part of their job.

“They even ended up laughing and screaming with the young pupils on the rides, such fun and laughter all round.”
