Lincolnshire Vanlife club together with Lincs Lowlife Car Club for third Christmas convoy from Sutton Bridge delivering presents to kids in Boston Pilgrim Hospital

Organisers of a popular festive convoy that delivers presents to children in hospital are appealing for donations.

Lincolnshire Vanlife Club and Lincs Lowlife Car Club arrange the annual trip from Sutton Bridge to the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston in order to give gifts to younger patients over the Christmas period.

Shaun Finnemore and Diane Ranshaw are behind the philanthropic trip which last year involved some 70 vehicles on the route and a bit of a hiccup when Santa’s sleigh broke down.

Mr Finnemore said: “Last year was overwhelming going through the villages with people out on the streets clapping as we went past.

“The Santa sleigh did break down but the owner has given it to us for the clubs to use however we want to.”

This year YouTuber Trucker Tim is supporting the event which takes place on Saturday, December 21.

Mr Finnemore said: “We’ve got Trucker Tim again this year and we hope to go live on Tik Tok if we can get more followers.

“It really does make it worthwhile when you see the faces in the windows looking at us and it makes me happy doing it.”

This year’s route will see the convoy travelling from Sutton Bridge from 3.30pm through Holbeach, Sutterton, Kirton, Wyberton to Boston Pilgrim Hospital.

Mr Finnmore said: “We are asking people for donations for the children who can’t come home for Christmas.

“We got so many donations last year though that they all get distributed around the hospital.

“Presents were given to kids in A&E too.”

Selection boxes or gifts can be donated, unwrapped so that they can be given to the right age range, by contacting Shaun and Diane via The Christmas Convoy on Facebook.

Mr Finnemore added: “It brings everyone together.

“It’s the third year doing it and I can't fault the hospital staff and security who got us in and parked up last year.

“They helped with the presents and got us in and out safely.”
