Harrison Burrows is part of the Sheffield United side that faces Sunderland in the Championship play-off final
A former Spalding Grammar School pupil will be aiming to become a Premier League footballer this weekend.
Harrison Burrows is part of the Sheffield United squad which faces Sunderland at Wembley on Saturday in the Championship play-off final.
The 23-year-old has been an integral part of the Blades' side this season following his summer switch from Peterborough United.
Burrows joined Posh from a young age and combined his studies at the Priory Road school with his blossoming football career.
He emerged through the ranks at Peterborough and went on to captain the club before his £6m move to Bramall Lane.
The left-sided player helped the Blades to a third place finish in the Championship this season.
They booked their place in Saturday's final with victory over Bristol City in the two-legged semi-final clash with Burrows now eager to take the next step.
He said: "I'm really enjoying it at Sheffield United and the goal when I signed in the summer was to get the club back to the Premier League so whatever I can do to help with that is massive.
"Everyone knows how difficult the Championship is but we've got a togetherness installed in the group.
"It's not just a team - we're like a family and we show that on the pitch.
"Our togetherness is helping us to win games and we've also got top quality players and a top quality manager which really helps.
"The club itself is such a family club and you can see that in our performances.
"Everyone surrounds that player when they've made a big tackle or scored a goal. We just love winning and fighting for each other."
Burrows helped Posh reach the League One play-off semi-finals last season after playing a starring role in their EFL Trophy final at Wembley.
He scored two late goals as Darren Ferguson's side ran out 2-1 winners against Wycombe Wanderers.
His performances caught the eye of Blades boss Chris Wilder who has tied Burrows down on a long-term contract until the summer of 2028.
Burrows said: "I had a few good seasons at Peterborough.
"It is a club that means a lot to me and I'm grateful for the opportunities they've given me but it was the time to step up.
"From day one when I came in, Chris (Wilder) treated everyone the same.
"He always reiterates to us what the club means to everyone in the city and things like that really help.
"He's basically one of their own so he's passionate and he loves winning. Ultimately that shows off onto the players because we have that sort of motivation every day."
Burrows first joined Peterborough's academy at the age of just six and featured in a first-team pre-season friendly against Ipswich Town in 2017 when he was a 15-year-old.
His first professional contract was signed in January 2019 and, having made his debut for Posh in the EFL Cup, his league bow followed at 17 in a 4-0 victory over the MK Dons.
