Chelsea Spencer of Spalding Indoor Bowls is competing in the World Championships
Spalding bowler Chelsea Spencer will be aiming to book a coveted place in the final of the World Championship tonight (Wednesday).
Spencer faces Beth Riva this evening in a semi-final showdown in the prestigious tournament at the Potters Resorts in Hopton-on-Sea, Norfolk.
The Lightning ace secured her place in the last four with victory over Lucy Smith in her quarter-final clash after a 9-5, 11-3 win.
Spencer had earlier played in the mixed pairs with Mark Dawes but they were defeated 6-9, 3-9 in their last eight tie against Nicole Rogers and Les Gillett.
The 31-year-old works as a ward sister on the Acute Cardiac Unit at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston and is currently ranked sixth in England.
Spencer first started playing bowls when she was nine-years-old and it is very much a family affair as, at the time, her grandparents, dad and brother also played.
Dad Martin Tomlin and grandad Mick Tomlin both competed in the 1990 World Championships.
Chelsea has won a series of national titles including the women’s pairs and national mixed fours title, also captaining England to the British Under 25 team title.
