Peterborough and District Football League round-up featuring Crowland Town, Holbeach United Reserves and South Lincolnshire Swifts




A strong first half performance helped Crowland Town send out a statement of intent in the Peterborough League Premier Division title race on Saturday.

The Bees beat second-placed Stanground Cardea Sports 3-1 with all of their goals coming in the first period of the contest.

Harry Tidswell scored twice with Jordan Kirchin also netting for Crowland who are now seven points adrift of table-topping Uppingham Town with five games in hand.

The two sides still have to play each other twice this term as Crowland travel to Uppingham on Saturday, April 5, with the return fixture at Snowden Field on Tuesday, April 15.

At the other end of the table, Holbeach United Reserves continued their upturn in form with a home victory over FC Peterborough Reserves.

The Tigers were two goals adrift before Denis Coelho cut the deficit ahead of the half-time break.

Second half goals from Tyriece Buffong and Flynn Hyde secured a second win of a three-game unbeaten run for Holbeach.

Whaplode Drove Rovers moved up into third place in the Division One standings after a 3-0 win at Yaxley Reserves thanks to goals from Adam Richardson (two) and Ryan Ellwood.

Long Sutton lost 6-1 at Park Farm Pumas despite a consolation goal from Jack Baker.

Two goals from Xennon Paul earned Crowland Town Reserves a two-goal home success over Sutton Bridge in Division Two.

Bourne Town Reserves played out a goalless draw with Park Farm Pumas at the Abbey Lawn.

South Lincs Swifts' title hopes in Division Three were dealt a massive blow after losing at home to league leaders Wittering.

The Spalding side were beaten 3-0 at Monks House Lane and now trail the table-toppers by 10 points with just one game in hand.

They are also seven points adrift of second-placed Stamford AFC Reserves who were 7-1 away winners at Long Sutton Reserves on Saturday. Lewis Horne netted for the Magpies.

Moulton Harrox Reserves were beaten 5-2 away at Uppingham's second string with Jordan Clow and Ryan Stanberry scoring their goals.

Elsea Park Eagles were 3-1 away winners at Whaplode Drove Rovers Reserves thanks to goals from Matthew Dale, Ryan Mills and Reece Precious. Liam White scored for the hosts.

Tydd claimed a higher level scalp to move into the semi-finals of the Peterborough Challenge Cup.

The Division Two side produced a superb first half display to score four times to set up a 4-2 away win against their Division One hosts.

Finley Rudge and Kai Scott-Henson both scored twice for Tydd who will face Whaplode Drove Rovers in the last four with Netherton United awaiting the winners in the final.

A brace of goals from Ben Laud earned Pinchbeck United Development a 2-1 home victory over Pointon in the Premier Division of the Boston and District League.

Holbeach Bank lost ground in the Division Two title race after a 2-1 away loss at second-placed Heckington United. Warren Hebblethwaite scored their goal.
