Former Derby County player Bartosz Cybulski has signed for Spalding United

Manager Jimmy Dean wants Spalding United to create a platform for developing exciting talent after securing the services of former Derby County player Bart Cybulski.

The one-time Poland Under 19 international made his debut for the Tulips on Tuesday night after being signed from King's Lynn.

Spalding paid an undisclosed fee to sign the 21-year-old from the National League North side and he marked his Tulips debut with two goals in the 3-2 home win over Lowestoft Town.

The signing is a statement of Spalding's ambition this season with Cybulski having played a couple of games in the Championship under the management of former England and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney.

And Dean wants the club to nurture any talent that comes their way while helping Spalding's progress in the Southern League Premier Division Central.

He explained: "When you're trying to get someone to join the club and you're near the bottom of the league below, we've got two things going for us.

"We've got the chairman and the second thing is that Bart hasn't played regularly.

"He's had three moves now and he just wants to play so we want to be a club who wants to develop players and give them a window.

"A lot of people talk about it but we want to do it. We want to get these players in, help them develop and get them a window to get back where they belong up the leagues or even in the Football League.

"Bart has played in the Championship and he had such an impact for us on Tuesday and I can't wait until we really get him going because I thought he was magic considering that he hasn't played a lot."

Cybulski's double strike helped secure back-to-back league wins for the Tulips after their weekend victory over Biggleswade Town.

It rounded off a hectic spell of games to start Dean's managerial tenure with the Spalding boss looking forward to spending time on the training ground with his charges after a flurry of midweek matches.

He added: "We do need a break because I think the reason that we're having these 15 or 20 minute spells in games where we're conceding goals is because we've exerted so much in this run of games.

"We've got four training sessions now and we haven't had back-to-back ones since I came in.

"We're of the opinion that we can get some really good work into the players.

"There has been a great commitment and turn-out from the lads and we want to capitalise on that over the next few weeks."

Spalding's next match is on Saturday, October 5, when they host league rivals Alvechurch in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy at the Sir Halley Stewart ground.
