The quartet were beaten 8-4 in the semi-final by Natalie Evans, Sam Harvey, Andrew Evans and Andrew Cogli who then lost in the final.

They had started out in the tournament at the Falcon Indoor Bowls Club in Chelmsford by losing 12-4 in their group match.

They were then beaten 4-9 in their next outing before sharing the spoils in their final group game after a 5-5 draw with Graeme George, Brian Brown, Alec Gall and Caroline Gall.

It placed them into the plate competition where they started off with a 9-3 victory in the last 32 over Peter Ainslie, Chris Adams, Shannon Mead and Terry Mead.

This was followed by a 7-5 success over Richard Arran, Dorian Hudson, Dafydd Rees and Alun Jones in the last 16.

It set up a quarter-final clash with Thomas Coles, Danny Hogben, Chris Philpott and Michael D where they triumphed 11-4.

The semi-final showdown was finely balanced until two shots were lost in the last end to curtail their run in the competition.

Chris and Kelly West also played in the World Pairs Masters where they triumphed 11-4 in the first group match against Faye Ray and Brian Brown.

This was backed up by an emphatic 16-3 win over Helen Sharp and Cheryl Grabham before they were beaten 7-10 by Jason McLean and John Manley.

It still secured their place in the main cup competition where they lost 9-6 in the last 64 tie against the formidable pairing of Gary McNabb and Stevie Stafford, the former who had won the World Fours Masters crown a day earlier.

Chris and Kelly are part of the Bull Dog team which plays in the Cambridgeshire Short Mat League. They are currently top of the Division One table after winning promotion last term.
